Contributions to Education and Community Service Cited
NEW YORK, NY July 11, 2007 - TransPerfect today announced that its President & CEO, Liz Elting, was honored with The Alumni Medal for Excellence from Trinity College. The Alumni Medal for Excellence is awarded annually to alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions and their communities.
Below is an excerpt from the address delivered by James F. Jones Jr., President and Trinity College Professor in the Humanities:
As the co-founder and CEO of TransPerfect Translations, one of the world's largest international language and business service companies, you are the model of a successful business woman and leader in your field.
You recognized a need in the translation industry for faster service and better quality. Together with a graduate school classmate, you converted $5,000 in start-up money into a two-person translation company that grew into the hugely successful, 500+ employee organization it is today. Over the course of your career, you and your company have garnered numerous awards from business organizations and magazines, including Entrepreneur Magazine's 'Woman of the Year' award in 2004, 'Entrepreneur of the Year' award from Ernst and Young in 2001, and Inc. Magazine's recognition as one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States in 2000. The media, including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Crain's New York Business, also calls on you as a business resource.
I am honored to present for an Alumni Medal of Excellence, a dynamic leader in her field and loyal alumna, Elizabeth Elting, Class of 1987.
The award was presented to Ms. Elting, on-site at the Trinity College campus in Hartford, Connecticut.
