Seamless Multilingual Support Propels World's Largest Event in Dubai

The organizers of the world's largest event in Dubai faced a monumental task in ensuring effective communication across a diverse global audience. The media center required a sophisticated hybrid interpretation system to facilitate daily briefings and high-profile press conferences. While French and Arabic were consistently needed, the ability to provide interpretation for 17 additional languages on short notice was essential. Simultaneously, the event's digital presence demanded a robust translation solution for its Sitecore-powered website, targeting five key languages to accommodate an expected 20 million visitors. The challenge was compounded by shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and the need to manage multiple content types efficiently.

TransPerfect devised a multifaceted approach to address the event's complex linguistic needs. For the media center, we implemented a comprehensive interpretation solution that included specialized technology, technical support, and a team of locally sourced interpreters. This setup was designed to be highly adaptable, capable of switching from on-site to fully remote operations within 24 hours when faced with COVID-19 restrictions. On the digital front, we leveraged GlobalLink Connect in partnership with Sitecore to manage the translation of over one million words across five languages. This integration streamlined the translation process, allowing our team to handle competing deadlines and new requests efficiently. The use of translation memory technology was key to maintaining consistency and reducing costs.
