Imaging
Imaging services relate to the creation of electronic images of documents. The most common form of imaging is the scanning of paper documents to be stored in electronic format, thereby replacing the need for managing large volumes of hard copies.
After scanning, the electronic documents essentially consist of an image of the text with all features (signatures, seals etc.) intact. The content cannot be “read” by computers in the same way a digital document would be, as it is a graphics image and can only be read by the human eye.
Should clients require a live digital version of the text, the imaged documents can be fed into Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software (see Multilingual OCR). The individual units of text can then be recognized by the computer as per standard digital documents (Word etc.).
After imaging, the documents can be stored, retrieved and managed online. TransPerfect Document Management can provide complete, integrated solutions for online document repositories that are tailored to your needs. |
