What has your career at TransPerfect been?
I would use one word to describe my day-to-day at TransPerfect: Exciting. I have been at TransPerfect since June of 2005, so I hit 11 years this year! I started from zero at TDM, so all I know I have learned at TPT, which is a pretty cool position to be in.
I like stability, so I haven't moved a lot—I’ve always been a part of the Reprographics Department. I started as a Document Specialist back in ‘05 and was promoted to Lead Document Specialist two years later. Since then I have been promoted every 1–3 years, leading up to my “Aha” moment at TDM, when I was promoted to Associate Operations Manager, the role I now hold. That trajectory makes me feel like the future looks bright.
What are important skills and philosophies you picked up during your time at TransPerfect
Some important things I have learned:
- Adaptability: Because as the saying goes, nothing is permanent, except for change.
- People Skills: TransPerfect revolves around its people. Knowing how to manage effectively and respecting all diversities is key.
- Being a Consultant: It's important to be there for our clients, and guide them through the sometimes-murky waters of the Reprographics world. They’re more inclined to trust and respect us if we are acting as full-service consultants!
I’ve had the chance to participate in a Senior Managers Summit in Miami, and I’ve worked on-site in three different states. I have been presented with awards in front of the company at our holiday party for three years in a row, and as a result of working here I have had a chance to buy my first home, start a family, and to grow as a person and a professional.
How would you explain TransPerfect to your friends?
Simple – it is the door to a future.
